New Member Welcome

Greetings and welcome to the Mountain Empire Model Railroaders (MEMRR). Your involvement in this club is the fuel that will carry us forward into the future and will add to the success of the Johnson City Railroad Experience (JCRE). We look forward to getting to know you and to share our passion for model railroading.
The MEMRR began in 1993 as a modular railroad club, with a group of dedicated modelers that would meet to bring their modules together, and exhibit their passion of model railroading at various locations in the area. Eventually, the MEMRR landed at the East Tennessee State University. There we occupied several rooms to exhibit different scales of model railroading as the George L. Carter Railroad Musuem. The MEMRR is made up of people of all walks of life who are locals and transplants, all with a passion for railroading and the local area. We try to honor the impact of the railroad in shaping our region and how its history, is so much a part of who we are.
We meet on the third Tuesday of each month for our business meeting. This meeting takes place at 6:30 pm at the Johnson City Railroad Museum, 207 N. Boone St., Johnson City, TN. Your email address is your connection to everything MEMRR. From club announcements to our quarterly newsletter, from museum updates to excursion information.
If you have a particular interest or skill that you want to share with the club, we would be most appreciated. We meet every Thursday evening from 5-8 pm to perform maintenance and continue our work on the layouts. This is also a good time to meet your fellow members. The JCRE is currently open from 10 am until 4:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. As a member, you will have an ID card on a lanyard to show that you are a member, and your name will also appear on a membership list at the museums desk. Once we are ready, we will conduct operating sessions in the evenings. We also have social events at least twice a year that you will be able to bring a guest to and share our railroading stories.
Thank you for your interest in the MEMRR and model railroading.
ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!!!!
